Julie Muir
Engaging, organised, supportive celebrant - Newcastle + the Hunter Valley
I'm a heart-led creative who enjoys writing beautiful stories infused with a bit humour. The goal is always to tell meaningful, emotional stories that resonate and delight. Personalised ceremonies are my speciality. Your guests will be hanging off my every word hearing what you love about each other and what annoys you too! I enjoy getting to know my clients so that their ceremony is a true reflection of who they are as people. It's about asking the right questions in the right way, really listening, and often reading between the lines. I’m Irish which means you’ll get a beautiful Irish accent and a knack for storytelling.
On the day, I try to entertain while I inform. I think about my voice, inflection and mannerisms. I'm well-versed in the art of humour, metaphor, and symbolism. Above all, it's about moving your guests at their emotional core.
My plan is always to create a relaxed vibe, so that you and your guests actually enjoy the ceremony (instead of having to endure it!). I know that the wedding day can be a bit overwhelming for lots of people, (I see you introverts!) but I'll be there to calm your nerves and banter with the guests. Your family and friends will laugh and they will cry. Not all celebrants have the skillzzzz to bring the light and the shade. By the end of it, I guarantee your guests will be feeling surprised and delighted by what they've learnt about your relationship.I'll send them away a little bit love drunk and ready for the P-A-R-T-Y.
My celebrancy business is fuelled by hard work, love and kindness. My core values are inclusion, equality, professionalism and collaboration. I want the people I work with to feel seen, heard and understood. More than that I want them to be accepted, appreciated, and celebrated for who they are. This is a judgement-free zone. I often work with busy professionals who want to plan an epic wedding, but are a little tight on time. If you are an accountant, engineer or lawyer, you’ll love how organised I am. I’ll guide you through my process seamlessly. If you are a teacher, doctor, occupational therapist or someone working in caring profession, we will get on well because we likely share similar values.
Are you organised? Detail-orientated? Birds of a feather flock together. We are going to find it easy to work together. I'll answer all of our questions before you even ask them and I'll provide with you with all the juicy info you crave to feel calm. Every time I take a booking, I donate to Carbon Positive Australia who will plant a tree just for us, to offset any printing involved in the ceremony. I speak Irish, Spanish, French and a bit of Italian: one of the advantages of growing up in Europe. Is one of you from another country? Or maybe your parents are? Or did you meet overseas? If you want a sprinkling of another language (any language!) in your ceremony, I can make that happen for you. I want my ceremonies to be as inclusive as possible so I've also been learning Australian Sign Language.
I know it's nerve-wracking to get what's in your head out into the open but I'll help you to write the best vows ever. I pinky promise it'll be easier than you think, with the winning formula in my Vow Writing Guide. I'll push you, in a good way (not over the edge!).
I’ve got the midas touch your wedding needs. You won’t find anyone with a better customer journey than me! Are you ready to take the leap and invest in your fairytale?
